The reality is that McCain should be proud that he helped salvage a disastrous situation by pushing the counterinsurgency plan. It’s something to run on. But, at this point, McCain must sense that it’s not a winning hand. Obama, the poker player, has drawn to an inside straight: the Iraqis favor his plan over McCain’s long-term bases. That must be galling. But it’s no excuse to pop off the way McCain did. It was, shockingly, unpresidential.

Come join activists, artists, educators, geeks and other creative thinkers in an open forum hosted by Harvard Law School professor Charles Nesson. What should Obama’s platform say about the internet’s role in promoting democracy, education and free speech? How do we ensure that a net-savvy campaign translates into a government that supports not just net neutrality but net empowerment? The forum will take place at GalleryXIV, the South End home of ABRAHAM OBAMA, a transcendent piece of political art that highlights the bi-partisan and multicultural nature of Obama’s candidacy.
